Preface (Предисловие)

Автомобильная промышленность является самым мощным 
двигателем экономического роста в мире. Она включает в себя 
широкий круг компаний и организаций, занимающихся проектированием, 
разработкой, производством, маркетингом, продажей, 
ремонтом и модификацией автомобилей. Это одна из крупнейших 
отраслей в мире по доходам. Это также отрасль с самыми высокими 
расходами на исследования и разработки в расчете на одну фирму.
Для работы в автомобильной промышленности с использованием 
и обслуживаем сложного оборудования требуется специально 
подготовленный производственный персонал.
Данный учебник подготовлен в соответствии с федеральными 
государственными образовательными стандартами, отвечает требованиям 
программы по дисциплине «Английский язык» для учреждений 
среднего профессионального образования. Учебник может 
быть использован при обучении студентов колледжей и неязыковых 
вузов, а также всеми изучающими английский язык самостоятельно.

Учебник составлен по целевому и тематическому принципу; 
текстовый материал и система упражнений, составленные на высоком 
научно-методическом уровне, представляют собой базу 
для развития навыков и умений основных видов речевой деятельности, 
систематизации и расширения словарного запаса обучаемых.
Основными целями данного учебника являются:
 
– формирование иноязычной профессиональной коммуникативной 
компетентности, необходимой для общения в профессиональной 
сфере;
 
– подготовка будущих специалистов к практическому использованию 
иностранного языка в профессиональной деятельности;
 
– 
ознакомление учащихся с текстами по специальности, развитие 
навыков работы с текстами;
 
– помощь в овладении необходимым лексическим минимумом 
с целью активизации монологической и диалогической беседы 
по данным темам;
 
– расширение знаний учащихся о своей будущей профессии;
 
– стимулирование мотивации учащихся к самостоятельному 
чтению и пониманию оригинальной научно-технической литературы 
на английском языке.

Основу комплекса упражнений составляют коммуникативные 
упражнения, направленные на формирование речевых умений 
студентов и обеспечивающие высокий уровень практического владения 
иностранным языком.
Учебник состоит из 6 частей. В основных частях (Part I.

tems and Components, Part IV. Malfunctions and Troubleshooting, 
Part V. Production Process in the Automotive Industry, Part VI. 
Successful Career Paths in the Automotive Industry) учащиеся 
знакомятся с основными узлами и компонентами транспортных 
средств, возможными неисправностями систем и узлов и способами 
их устранения; также подробно рассмотрены этапы производственного 
процесса в автомобильной промышленности, отработаны 
необходимые навыки для успешного трудоустройства 
в контексте изучения иностранного языка.
Каждый раздел содержит следующую структуру:
 
• ввод в тему (обсудите в парах);
 
• список лексических единиц, подлежащих усвоению, и упражнения 
на их первичное употребление в речи; задания на активизацию 
лексики (переведите следующие словосочетания на русский/
английский язык);
 
• текст с заданиями, имеющими различные цели: просмотровое 
(ответить на вопросы), поисковое (закончите предложения, выбрав 
соответствующее окончание в правой колонке), изучающее 
(ответьте на следующие вопросы по тексту). Все тексты взяты 
из аутентичных источников, адаптированы и носят исключительно 
профессионально ориентированный, функциональный 
характер;
 
• упражнения, нацеленные на формирование терминологического 
профессионального минимума;
 
• упражнения, направленные на более глубокую работу с текстом, 
на поиск англоязычных соответствий;
 
• упражнения, направленные на совершенствование навыков говорения 
как диалогической, так и монологической речи;
 
• упражнения, нацеленные на формирование навыков письменной 
речи.
Таким образом, изучив материал данного учебника, обучаемые

The Automotive Industry consists of a broad range of organizations 
and companies designing, developing, marketing, manufacturing, 
and selling motor vehicles. The automotive industry makes up a vital 
part of the world’s economic sectors by revenue.
Companies in the automotive industry fall into two categories that 
are car manufacturers and car parts manufacturers. Vehicles in the 
modern world are becoming more complex and involve more electronic 
parts than in the past years.
The success of the modern automotive industry relies on the 
salesroom as well as the expertise of many diff erent professionals. The 
sector off ers numerous employment opportunities in several positions 
such as mechanical, sales, assembly, fi nancial, creative, scientifi c, 
technical, and business positions. Other employment opportunities in 
the manufacturing plants of the automotive industry include quality 
control workers, safety engineers, managers, supervisors, designers, 
and executives.
Since car manufacturing is expensive, there are a few numbers of 
manufacturers in the automotive industry. Globally the world leaders 
in the automotive sector include Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, Nissan 
Motors, and Hyundai.
The industry is entering a period of intense change, and the 
automotive industry would change to the mobility industry. The trends 
in the industry are as a result of the combination of business models, 
digital sciences, and new technologies in the material.
The transformation of the industry is more about people’s 
connectivity to automobiles. The change in the automotive sector will 
entail connectivity, autonomous vehicles, redefi ned mobility, and 
electrifi cation.

Key Segments in Automotive Industry
 
• Light vehicles: These are motorcycles and cars used for business 
transportation involving goods and people. Examples include SUVs, 
passenger cars, minivans, and pick-up trucks.
 
• Trucks and buses: They are mainly commercial vehicles used for 
the transportation of goods and people. Examples include coaches, 
trailers, and light and heavy buses.
 
• Construction and agriculture: Is any industrial machinery used for 
mining, agricultural, and construction transportation tasks. Exam-
ples include earth movers and commercial vehicles.
 
• Electric cars and plug-in hybrids: Include automobiles propelled by 
a single or several electric motors. They use electrical energy stored 
in rechargeable batteries. The electric motors provide electric cars 
with instant torque, thus creating a stable and smooth acceleration.
 
• Autonomous vehicles: These are self-driving, driverless, or robotic 
cars that can sense their environment and navigate without human 
input. They use global positioning systems, radar, and computer vi-
sion to detect their surroundings.
The automotive industry over the years has transformed from being 
core mechanical engineering specifi c to electronic subsystems. To enable 
highly sophisticated and Smart vehicles the industry uses hundreds of 
ICs and complex software programs.
Automotive Electronics is a multidisciplinary field involving 
Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Networking, and Computing 
technologies. Primarily it is the application of electronics and 
programming in vehicle engineering.
The future of transportation technology is exciting and unthinkable 
in today’s terms:
 
• It will be smarter, safer & with unimaginable comforts in a ve-
hicle;
 
• It will have a rapid penetration of electric vehicle technology;
 
• Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) for safer driving will 
be the norm;
 
• The rise in connectivity, sophistication, and shared mobility ser-
vices will be apparent
 
• Multi-modal/Intelligent transportation systems will be in use;
 
• The rise in autonomous driving will be a standard feature in ve-
hicles.
