UNIT I
APPLYING FOR A JOB

TexT 1

Read and translate the text:

CURRICULUM VITAe (CV)

Applying for any job starts with sending a Curriculum Vitae (CV) to the
organization you are applying to.
There are special requirements for filling in your CV. It should be short,
clear and precise. It gives your personal information in the order specified:
1. Personal Information.
2. Education.
3. Professional Experience.
4. Skills.
5. Activities (Hobbies and Interests).
6. References.
Personal Information includes the name and surname of the candidate,
his or her full address, phone number and e-mail address.
Information about the candidate’s education and professional experience
is usually given in the reverse order: starting with the current state of affairs
and moving back to the initial stage.
Skills include all additional abilities of the candidate obtained at different
courses or independently.
All job candidates are generally asked to indicate the names of their
referees — people who can verify the background information and provide
personal evaluation of the candidates. Personal evaluation obtained from
referees may not be of much value because candidates usually indicate those
referees who think the world of them.
